Kerryn

Related to the Irish Ciar, meaning "dark," Kerryn is a feminine name often translated as "descendant of Ciar." It's a testament to Kerryn's close proximity to Cíarraige—meaning "the people of Ciar"—which referred to the pre-Gaelic tribe who followed the illegitimate son of Ulster king Fergus mac Róich. Banished from the ancient Court of Cruachan, Ciar established a territory of his own in the Munster province, what is now known as County Kerry.
