Gavrilo

Gavrilo is a beautiful boy’s name of mainly Serbian origin. Although a variant of Gabriel, it’s a little more in line with the sound and spelling of the original Hebrew iteration Gavri’el. Meaning “man of God” or “God is my strong man,” it’s no surprise that Gavrilo was so popular among 17th and 18th-century Eastern Christians. It was even carried by five of the highest-ranking bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Gavrilo I, II, III, IV, and V.
