Arwyn

Arwyn is a gender-neutral name whose distinctive Celtic flavor earns it a dreamy mythological feel. Perhaps this is why Arwyn found wide acclaim in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings as Aragorn's great elven love Arwen. Indeed, Tolkien took great influence from Welsh for much of his Elvish language, making it no surprise that Arywn would be a muse for the beautiful half-elf. Under his expert hand, Arywn transforms from “blessed” or “white”—from the Welsh gwyn—into a figure of great courage, sacrifice, and love. Arwyn also has Germanic roots and can mean “wild boar friend,” “friend of the people,” and “friend of the army” for the amiable little one forging bonds wherever they venture.
