Dad Creates Diapers to Fill a Major Gap for Kids With Disabilities

Parents are natural problem-solvers—ready to improvise, adapt and advocate when their child’s needs aren’t met. So when Brady Crandall saw the diaper industry had left kids like his daughter behind, he didn’t just get frustrated—he got to work.

Crandall’s daughter was born with a severe brain injury called hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), which resulted in multiple disabilities, including cerebral palsy that requires her to use a wheelchair. As she grew, Crandall and his wife found themselves facing a frustrating reality. “There are no options for kids after they outgrow the baby diapers, until they’re big enough for the adult diapers,” Crandall told Denver 7 News. Rather than settle for an uncomfortable or inadequate solution, he launched Youth Crews—a diaper line designed specifically for kids 4-17, who fall between the baby and adult diaper categories.
