The Wiggles’ Hand-Washing Song Is Gaining Traction—and for Good Reason
With the COVID-19 outbreak still in full swing, one of the best things the CDC recommends doing to protect yourself is wash your hands. In recent weeks, several parents and celebs have shared the songs they’ve been singing with their children to get them to rinse up for the allotted 30 seconds. Now, popular Australian children’s music group The Wiggles is joining in on the fun with their own handwashing song.
The song was actually launched last October as part of Global Handwashing Day (October 15) for UNICEF Australia. In recent weeks, both the song and its subsequent GIF have gotten over 14 million views combined. Now, the group is in works to record the song in multiple languages, including Italian, Arabic and Mandarin. The Original Wiggles had also created a song around the importance of handwashing back in 2010.
Fans are here for both. One person commented on the original video, “New worldwide anthem,” while another said, “This video should be on everyone’s recommended page at this time.”
