The Bizarre Reason Why Parents Are Throwing Cheese at Toddlers on Social Media
Say cheese?
The latest social media challenge taking the Internet by storm has parents throwing cheese at their kids. Yes, you read that right.
The viral Cheese Challenge first began on Facebook last week after Charles Amara posted a video of himself tossing a slice of cheese at his son, CTV News reports.
But it wasn’t until a few days later when the video exploded on social media. The clip was reposted by a Twitter user who goes by the handle @unclehxlmes, where it quickly went viral.
“Just cheesed my [little] brother,” @unclehxlmes wrote.
After the video received nearly 260,000 retweets and was viewed more than 10 million times, the user was overwhelmed by how much media attention he was receiving from outlets worldwide. Ultimately, he decided to take the video down.
“I deleted it because it genuinely got way out of hand,” he says via Twitter. “It was very invasive for the family and I would like to apologize.”
Although the video has been removed from Twitter, its legacy is, bizarrely enough, living on.
