Orange Is the New Black's Uzo Aduba Welcomes Her First Daughter
Orange Is The New Black alum Uzo Aduba has welcomed her first child with husband Robert Sweeting!
The Emmy-Award-winning actress known for her role as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren announced the arrival of her daughter in a post on November 30. “My daughter. I’ve never been in love so quickly, so deeply in my entire life,” she wrote. “I really don’t know what to say, guys. My heart is full. Thank you, God.”
“I have joy like a fountain. I have witnessed a miraculous thing, and I feel blessed to know you are ours. We love you so much, Adaiba Lee Nonyem,” she wrote. Adaiba is a name descendant from the Igbo people, an ethnic group native to present-day south-central and southeastern Nigeria. Aduba noted it’s meaning, “Daughter of the people,” in the post, adding “treasurer of the mother’s names who came before you.”
The new mom also noted her excitement upon joining the Motherhood club. Remarking that “the dues are high, but the membership is completely worth it :) #grateful.”
Auba and Sweeting confirmed they were expecting after Aduba debuted her baby bump on the 2023 Tony Awards pink carpet. "What a blessing. My husband Robert and I are so happy to enter this next chapter together as parents. I am beyond excited. I get to be someone’s Mommy,” wrote Aduba. “I know as the three of us continue to grow, our only, ONLY goal will be to love you, little one. My goodness. Look what God has done.”
For her pink carpet announcement, the star wore an orange Christian Siriano suit jacket with matching pants and crop top. You can snag a similar style by pairing the x Sofia Richie Sosa Jumpsuit from Revolve with the oversized single breasted blazer in orange from Topshop.
Sweeting and Aduba tied the knot quietly in 2020 in a secret ceremony held in New York.
Our best to the happy couple on their new addition.
