How These Connecticut Twins Were Born in Two Different Years
Two Connecticut twins may share half their DNA, but they won’t share the same birth year!
It’s not a scientific anomaly; Souli Morris and Seven Morris were simply born in two separate years thanks to some pretty spectacular timing. Seven was the last baby of the year born at Yale New Haven Hospital at 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2023, while his “little sister” Souli was the first baby to ring in the new year at 12:02 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2023.
Despite their different birthdays, both babies came in at 6 pounds, 9 ounces. Parents Mykel and Aliyah Kiyomi Morris and both babies are “doing great and getting some well-deserved rest," the hospital said in the news release.
While having twins who split the New Year’s Eve gap may seem like a one-in-a-million chance, it’s not the first time “two-year twins” have made headlines. Last year Kali and Cliff Scott welcomed twin daughters Annie Jo and Effie Rose in two separate years. The year before, California mom Fatima Madrigal welcomed twins Alfredo Antonio in 2021 and Aylin Yolanda in 2022.
Outside of two different birthday celebrations, there are some small side-effects from having twins born in two different years from tax deductions to school enrollment cut-off dates. Regardless of what their unique situation may bring, our congratulations go out to Mykel and Aliyah Kiyomi Morris on their new additions!
