Tummy time: Some babies love it, others—not so much. But regardless of how your little one feels about it, this daily activity is crucial for building the upper body strength they’ll need to hit major milestones like crawling, standing and eventually taking their first steps. If you’ve been searching for a way to make tummy time more fun for both you and your baby, one dad’s creative approach might be just the trick.

Scott Porter, a golf coach and stay-at-home dad (@theoverqualifiedgolfdadspod), recently shared his go-to tummy time activity—a round of putting. In the now-viral video, Porter gently putts golf balls toward his giggling baby, Jett, as the caption reads: “Wife said I had to make Jett do more tummy time.” The clip shows Jett captivated, reaching for the balls as they roll his way—a hole-in-one for father-son bonding before he can even grip his own club.

Viewers in the comments section loved Porter’s creative take on tummy time. “Work smarter, not harder,” one person quipped. “Tummy time is so important! Way to go,” added another. A third simply declared, “Genius.” And this isn’t the only time Porter and Jett have bonded over a shared love of golf. In a follow-up video, Jett, seated in his walker and surrounded by toys, is mesmerized watching his dad swing a club.

If your little one isn’t a tummy time fan, getting creative with something you both enjoy could be the key. Whether it’s putting golf balls, engaging with tummy time toys, or incorporating music and movement, the most important thing is spending intentional time together.
