Target Introduces Sensory-Friendly Furniture Line for Kids
Home sweet home is only tangible when the whole family feels comfortable in your house. And when you have a kid with sensory issues, that can be a lot easier said than done. As per usual, Target is saving the day. This month, the retail giant expanded its Pillowfort collection to feature sensory-friendly pieces of furniture that are functional and stylish, but won’t break the bank.
“Little details can have a huge impact,” Julie Guggemos, senior vice president, owned brand management and product design, says in a news release. “I’m so proud to bring that spirit of inclusivity and incredible design to Pillowfort’s new sensory-friendly assortment, which hopefully can bring more ease and joy to our guests’ everyday lives.”
The 20-piece assortment was designed to meet kids’ and parents’ needs, and everything ranges from $20 to $100. The rocking chair, for example, is made of a seat with a wipeable surface and legs that allow for increased motion. A bunch of the fabrics in the collection are made of different types of textures and materials to encourage sensory exploration. There’s even an indoor sensory tent that’s spacious enough to fit a small desk, and comes complete with pockets, wireless cord ports and a carrying case to take it on the go. It’s a sweet spot for kids to find a quiet escape when they need to focus on homework and other assignments.
You can check out the full line here, and keep your eyes peeled for weighted plush which will debut this summer.
