Sofia Richie Grainge on Savoring That 90-Minute Newborn Nap Break
Life with a newborn can be magical and lovely, but it’s often far from easy. Between feedings, changing diapers, playing with your baby, and cleaning up after them, you’re with your little one all day and night—leaving almost no time for yourself. But then, for many parents, a small taste of freedom often comes around a month or two in, when the baby starts napping during the day.
Style icon and the coolest new mom on the block, Sofia Richie Grainge, recently opened up about this golden period, sharing how she’s making the most of hers. “The first four weeks, I was with her 24 hours a day," she told the Wall Street Journal. “Now she’s at an age where I have her on a sleep schedule, so she’s taking a lot of 90-minute naps throughout the day.”
“My life and everything I need to get done has to happen within those 90 minutes,” she continued. “I’m a very scheduled, organized person. I’m very Type A, clean, and organized. But I’ve also learned that I don’t have to be that way because when you have a baby, all of that kind of goes out the window. I’ve discovered that I’m more flexible than I thought.”
As many moms know, it’s incredibly hard to “sleep when the baby sleeps,” so during her 90-minute window of peace, Richie indulges in her favorite pastimes: puzzles and scrapbooking. “I actually found out I’m a scrapbook girl. I wrote everything down in a scrapbook for Eloise, just things I didn’t want to forget,” she said. “I love to puzzle. When I was pregnant, I did a 1,000-piece puzzle every other day.”
While Richie might be puzzling away and scrapbooking to her heart’s content, it’s important to remember that whatever your “thing” may be, there’s only a limited time to enjoy it. So jump right in, mama, and remember—whether you’re scrolling or scrapbooking, those 90 minutes are all yours!
