Shawn Johnson East and husband Andrew East are offering an inside look into their son’s adorable nursery.

The couple posted a new 10-minute video, filmed while Johnson East was still pregnant, to their YouTube channel last week. In it, the couple explain they opted for a “different vibe” than they did for their daughter Drew. After debating several colors, including black and dark blue, Johnson East explains they landed on a “tannish-gray” color for the nursery.

The couple then walk through all the different features of the room, including the crib, dresser, sitting area and rug. “We didn’t move [this rug] out. I figured this has been puked on, pooped on—we should probably just keep it in the nursery,” she said, adding that she wanted furniture that could grow with baby and neutral accents in black, navy and gray to elevate the color scheme. The room also features custom wall art in three pieces that showcases characters from their toy shop, Teddy & Bear.

The Couple’s Birth Announcement

The Dancing With the Stars alumnus announced the birth of her second child (and first boy) with East in late July. A week later, she took to social media to reveal his name: Jett James East.

In an Instagram post, she explained that the name honored both Johnson’s great great grandmother and East’s brother. She shared the news alongside sweet family photos of both parents holding their son.

The couple first shared the news of baby boy’s birth on their Teddy & Bear Instagram account on July 20: “We’re so excited to announce a new friend is here! Mom and baby are doing well and we can’t wait to meet our new friend!" Additionally, Johnson and East, who were married in 2016, told People in an exclusive statement that they are overjoyed by their “little man’s” arrival. “We are loving life as a family of four and soaking up every minute.”

Johnson East’s Pregnancy Journey

Johnson East has shared her pregnancy journey on social media since revealing the big news in January, partaking in various silly and sweet bump-boasting antics to the delight of followers and fans, including showing off her burgeoning belly whilst modeling an old gymnastics bodysuit from the Olympics. She and East have also posted a few impressive synchronized dances to their social media accounts, and even shared a video from a stunning underwater maternity photo shoot.

Of course, Johnson’s pregnancy wasn’t all fun and games. A few weeks before giving birth, the athlete-mom to 20-month-old baby girl Drew Hazel East shared via social media that she was feeling less than stellar: “Have officially hit the wall where I don’t want to work, I’m stressed about everything, overthinking everything, irritable, and exhausted. All I have room to think about is our little family and little man on the way.”

Another challenging moment in her pregnancy? Earlier this year, Johnson East revealed that she tested positive for COVID-19. She shared the news via Instagram story, and opened up about her fear that she could get her family sick. Fortunately, it was a mild case, and she soon recovered.

Johnson East told E! News that this pregnancy was an unexpected joy. They had started trying, but thought it would take more time. Lo and behold, they found success right away; "So we did not think it would happen this fast or we would be dealing with this this soon, but we kinda just have the mindset of we are people who love our sleep and love our routine and love just having some stability in life,” she said.

The path to parenthood wasn’t all smooth sailing. In May, Johnson East opened up to Good Morning America about facing life after miscarriage in 2017: “It was the first time I ever felt super vulnerable. I didn’t know who to go to or who to talk to or how to heal. So I ended up going to social media… And to see the thousands and thousands of women that came forward… it was the only way I healed."

With the addition of baby boy East, the family of four will have new and exciting milestones ahead. We can’t wait to see how Johnson East will share the joys (and inevitable challenges) of parenting two little people with her signature humor and charm.
