Power Actor Rotimi and Vanessa Mdee Welcome Their Second Child

Power actor Rotimi and Vanessa Mdee have welcomed their second child!

In an emotional video, the R&B singer introduced his new daughter. “I still can’t wrap my mind around to think I’m here to announce the beautiful birth of my daughter Imani,” he wrote in the post.

As one user pointed out in the comments, Imani is a traditional name with Arabic origins, coming from the word Imam and meaning “belief” or “faith.” Rotimi continued in the post to share that he was “Overwhelmed with love today” and applauded his partner, Vanessa Mdee, as “nothing short of a superhero.”

“Our second child together and Seven now has a little sister to watch over. God, you have poured blessing on me so many times, so I will scream my praises back to you. I’m forever grateful,” the Nigerian-American actor added.

Before the big announcement, Rotimi and Mdee shared a humorous video of the two on their way to the hospital. In true super Dad fashion, the Boss star showed off his pregnancy prowess, explaining to video viewers that they were heading to the hospital because of the 5-1-1 rule. The 5-1-1 rule, he explains, is when contractions are 5 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute each for an hour consistently—that’s when you head to the hospital.

A supportive father through and through, Rotimi updated viewers with inspirational posts about his wife’s journey throughout the whole process, applauding her strength and determination. The couple’s new addition will join a fun family of four, including older brother Seven.

Rotimi and Vanessa Mcdee Announce They Are Expecting a Baby Girl

The star-power duo initially shared the news that they were expecting in an Instagram post with both mom and dad joyfully releasing an umbrella full of pink flower petals to celebrate their new baby girl. “Baby No. 2. GLORY TO GOD…it’s a girl,” Mcdee captioned the post.

Friends, fans and fellow actors rushed to the comments to congratulate Mcdee and the Boss actor. One Love reggae show host Talia Oyando commented, “Awwwww Vane the joy on your face. Congratulations my love. Congratulations to you and your growing family,” while Rotimi’s Power costar Naturi Naughton added, “Awww so happy for y’all! Congratulations.”

The couple welcomed their first child, Seven, a little over a year ago, in September 2021. The two kept the pregnancy under wraps until just one month before their son was born. Rotimi and Mdee announced their engagement in December 2020 after meeting at an Essence Festival afterparty in New Orleans.
