Rihanna on When She Felt Like Herself Again After Having Kids
Feeling like yourself again after having a baby can take time. From reclaiming your confidence to enjoying that first spit-up-free date night, many moms find it’s a gradual process—and sometimes, as Rihanna explains, you may never feel quite the same again.
At a recent Savage X Fenty event at Nordstrom, Rihanna got candid about her experience as a mom. When asked if she’s started to feel like herself again, the pop icon admitted she wasn’t sure. “I don’t even feel close,” she told Refinery29. “I don’t even remember what I was like without kids. And so I don’t even know if that matters anymore. I feel like I’m trying to get to a place where the balance of my new reality feels good."
As always, Rihanna proves she’s the queen of adaptability—effortlessly evolving from global music icon to beauty mogul, fashion trailblazer, and devoted mom. Her reflection is a reminder that what worked before may no longer serve us in a new phase of life. Instead of clinging to an identity that feels out of reach, sometimes the only way forward is to embrace the change.
Far from the first mom wisdom Rihanna has dropped, the relatable mom of two has also opened up about everything from postpartum hair loss to postpartum style. At the launch of her Fenty Beauty Soft’lit Foundation earlier this year, the beauty mogul told Extra that her style has continued to evolve as a mom.
“When you become a mom, your style goes from like ‘blah’ to ‘let’s see what fits’ to ‘I’m gonna be a bad bitch today.’ You’ve got to remind yourself a little bit sometimes, you know, bad bitch is still in there somewhere,” she said. “You wanna be comfortable because you’re moving around so much and then it’s whatever fits. Right now, my clothes are either too big or too small most of the time.”
The star has certainly been on the move with two little ones on her hands, including 2-year-old RZA and 1-year-old Riot Rose. Between launching her newest line of matching family Christmas pajamas to keeping up with her two little ones, it’s no wonder Rihanna likens being a boy mom of two to “an Olympic sport.”
Whatever this extraordinary mom has planned next, we can’t wait. Until then, catch up on her best maternity looks and red carpet reveals.
