Rebel Wilson Welcomes Baby Girl via Surrogate

Rebel Wilson has officially welcomed her first child!

The Pitch Perfect actress shared the good news in an Instagram post on Monday with a photo of her baby girl dressed in a pale pink onesie and adorable unicorn socks. “Beyond proud to announce the birth of my first child, Royce Lillian, born this past week via surrogate. I can’t even describe the love I have for her, she’s a beautiful miracle!” Wilson captioned the post.

Royce is a gender-neutral German name meaning “fame.” Most popularly associated with the luxury car brand Rolls-Royce, Wilson’s baby girl will surely be among plenty of fame and luxury alongside her superstar mom.

The Australian actress, who has been very open about her surrogate journey from the start, went on in her Instagram post to thank all of the people involved in bringing baby Royce into the world.

“I am forever grateful to everyone who has been involved, (you know who you are). This has been years in the making…but particularly wanted to thank my gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care. Thank you for helping me start my own family, it’s an amazing gift. The BEST gift,” she wrote.

In 2019, Wilson told People that when it came to starting a family, she was “going for it” alone “because of the biological clock.” Wilson continued, “If I meet the right person, great, and then they can fit in with whatever happens. It’s great that the technology exists. You have so many options with surrogacy and sperm donors. I only started thinking of fertility when I was 39, so you feel quite late, but then there are women in their mid-40s who’ve been successful. Look at Janet Jackson, it’s pretty inspiring."

As far as being a mom now, Wilson says she’s “ready to give little Roycie all the love imaginable. I am learning quickly…much respect to all the Mums out there! Proud to be in your club.”
