Parents of Quintuplets to Welcome Baby No. 6 Just 17 Months Later
To say the Ladner family has their hands full would be an understatement.
The Mississippi couple who welcomed quintuplets a little over a year ago announced on February 19 that they would be welcoming baby number six in July. “We weren’t trying, and I was on birth control,” Haylee Ladner told Today, describing the moment she realized she was late and needed to take a pregnancy test. “I was sure it would be negative," Haylee said, but the world had other plans.
After coming up with a positive test, Haylee told her husband Shawn, who instantly ran out to get more tests, but “of course those were positive, too.” Busy juggling identical quadruplets Adalyn, Everleigh, Malley and Magnolia alongside their brother Jake, Haylee noted that she didn’t even recognize her pregnancy symptoms at first.
“For one thing, I was really, really tired, but I assumed it was just because I have five kids! Of course, I’m tired,” she says. "So I just kind of chalked it up to that.” But it was indeed something more, and despite the initial shock, the Mississippi parents are thrilled to prepare to welcome a baby girl over the summer.
“It was scary at first because they’re going to be so close together in age, but if I can handle 5, I can handle 6! We thought we were completely done, but we were blessed with this sweet surprise,” Ladner said before noting that the couple plans to “take extra precautions” in the future.
Our congratulations to the Ladners on their perfect crew of six!
