'I Only Go to the Eras Tour When Pregnant': One Mom's Epic Tradition
We’ve all dreamed of going to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour—but can you imagine attending not once, but twice, with your future best friend in tow?
Soon-to-be mom of two and Swiftie, Rachel Cundiff Youde, recently went viral on TikTok for sharing her unique Eras Tour experience. She attended Swift’s May 2023 show at Gillette Stadium at 37 weeks pregnant with her daughter, who made her grand entrance just four weeks later. Fast forward, and Youde was back again this past weekend in Miami for Eras round two—this time at 17 weeks pregnant, rocking out with her son in tow. “I only go to the Eras Tour when pregnant,” she joked in the caption.
Beyond the playful TikTok, Youde shared that both tour experiences were a whirlwind of emotions. “When I went to the first show while pregnant with my daughter, I was a first-time mom who had no idea what 37 weeks pregnant would feel like,” Youde told The Bump.
“I had a lot of anxiety leading up to the show that I’d have to miss it because of going into labor or being too uncomfortable. The best part of that one was just conquering my fears and experiencing the show. Knowing that my daughter got to experience it in utero was cool too,” she explained. “She is still too young for us to tell what her taste in music will be, but when she was a newborn I used to sing the song Cowboy Like Me to help her fall asleep, and it always soothed her. Now, as a toddler, one of her favorite books is a Taylor Swift children’s story.”
Her second time around, Youde says it was nice having more confidence going to the concert pregnant and knowing it wasn’t a “huge deal”—being in her second trimester versus her third didn’t hurt either. “I’m also excited to tell him that he got to attend the show just like his big sister,” she added.
Youde’s story resonated with fellow Swifties, and the comments section on her viral TikTok quickly filled with humor and camaraderie. One person wrote, “Wait, this is really putting into perspective how long the Eras Tour has been going on…” while another chimed in, “Your babies can technically say they’ve been to the Eras Tour.”
Other moms-to-be found inspiration and comfort in Youde’s experience. One shared, “This makes me feel so much better about going to Miami Night 3 at 36 weeks pregnant!” Another asked, “Ok, but how was it though? I’m going to be five months pregnant for the Vancouver concert—and I’m in the NOSEBLEEDS.”
Youde had some practical advice for fellow concert-going moms: “It’s exhausting but worth it! My best tips are: wear comfy shoes, drink lots of water and keep the next day open to rest if you can!!”
Reflecting on both Eras Tour experiences, Youde added: “Overall, I take the approach in pregnancy to keep living my life while obviously making adjustments to keep the babies safe. The best part of both shows is knowing that I am lucky to be healthy enough to do that.”
