Mets’ Pete Alonso and Wife Haley Expecting First Baby Together
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is about to add “dad” to his All-Star résumé.
The four-time All-Star and his wife, Haley, made the big announcement over the team’s opening weekend. “Baby Alonso 2025. We can’t wait for this next chapter of becoming mom and dad,” the couple captioned a series of maternity photos featuring Haley in a white maxi dress and Alonso in all black.
In the comments, friends, fans, and fellow teammates shared their excitement. “So happy for you guys,” wrote Francisco Lindor’s wife, Katia. “Congratulations! Citi Field is a great place for a kid to grow up for at least the next 8 years, just saying,” joked one fan. “Oh yeah, he’s hitting 50 homers this year,” added another. The baby news comes on the heels of Alonso signing a two-year, $54 million contract with the Mets this February.
Pete and Haley first met in 2015 while he was playing summer baseball in the Cape Cod League. They maintained a long-distance relationship—Pete at the University of Florida and Haley at Michigan State University—until they both finished school. “I just couldn’t get enough of her,” the MLB pro told ESPN in 2020. “For me, this was the one.”
After getting engaged in November 2018, the couple tied the knot in Tampa, Florida in 2021. “11-12-21 was hands down the best day of my life. I got to marry the woman of my dreams in front of God, our families, and our friends," Pete captioned an Instagram post celebrating their wedding. “I feel so blessed and proud to be your husband, @haleyralonso.”
