Perdue Recalls 167,000 Pounds of Chicken Nuggets and Tenders
Sure, we are all working to expand our toddler’s taste buds, but sometimes nothing hits the spot quite like chicken nuggets. Whether you or your little one are chowing down on this easy meal for lunch, dinner or a mid-day snack, you’ll want to check twice before serving up another plate of nuggets after Perdue issued a recall for over 167,000 pounds of its frozen nuggets and tenders.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) Perdue made the decision to recall over 167,000 pounds of its frozen and ready-to-eat chicken nuggets and tenders after customers found pieces of metal wire embedded in their food. While no injuries or hospitalization in association with the metal bits have been reported yet, a mouth of metal is not something anyone wants to bite into.
The affected frozen and ready-to-eat chicken nuggets and tenders were shipped to retailers nationwide and sold directly to customers. The recalled items bear the establishment number “P-33944” on the back and include:
- 22-oz. (1.38-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages containing “PERDUE Simply Smart ORGANICS Breaded CHICKEN BREAST NUGGETS” with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.
- 29-oz. (1.81-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages containing "PERDUE CHICKEN BREAST TENDERS with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.
- 22-oz. (1.38-lbs.) vacuum-sealed packages containing “BUTCHERBOX Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets” with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.
If you have a recalled package, the FSIS urges you to dispose of it immediately or return it to the retailer you purchased it from for a full refund. You can contact Perdue at 1-866-866-3703 if you have additional questions or concerns. If you think you or your child may have ingested a piece of metal, don’t hesitate to reach out to your doctor.
