Soccer Star Neymar and Girlfriend Bruna Welcome First Baby Together

International soccer star Neymar is now a girl dad!

The Brazillian athlete and his girlfriend, Bruna Biancardi, announced the arrival of their baby girl on October 6 on Instagram. “Our Mavie arrived to complete our lives. Welcome, daughter! You are already very loved by us… thank you for choosing us,” the caption translated from Portuguese read.

Mavie is likely a variation on Mavis, a name with French origins that typically means songbird. Mavis was incredibly popular throughout the 1920s both in the United States and Britain, but declined sharply in popularity until it made its return to the US Top 1,000 baby name charts in 2016.

Baby Mavie will share Neymar’s love with big half-brother Davi Lucca, 12, who Neymar shares with ex-girlfriend Carolina Dantas.

The Saudi Pro League forward and the Brazilian model first shared the news that they were expecting on Instagram April 18. “We dream of your life, we plan your arrival, and knowing that you are here to complete our love makes our days much happier,” the couple captioned the photo of Neymar cradling Biancardi’s bare baby bump.

“You will arrive in a beautiful family, with a brother, grandparents, uncles and aunties who already love you so much,” the couple noted in reference to their loving support system and Neymar’s 11-year-old son Davi Lucca who he shares with ex-girlfriend Carolina Dantas.

“Come soon son or daughter, we are looking forward to you,” the couple added, before closing out their post with a bible verse from Jeremiah. “‘Before I formed you in the womb I chose you; before you were born, I set you apart’ - Jeremiah 1:5.”

Friends and fans rushed to the comments to send their congratulations and express their excitement for Neymar and Biancardi. Fellow soccer stars Vini Jr., Richarlison and Antonela Roccuzzo sent their love in the comments. “God bless the life of this little baby every day who is here running, playing and bringing lots of love,” wrote Dantas.

Neymar and Biancardi shared their romance on Instagram in January 2022 before announcing their split last August. But the pair reconciled shortly after, with Biancardi paying tribute to the Paris Saint-Germain footballer when he turned 31 in February 2023.
