50-Year-Old Naomi Campbell Has Wanted to Be a Mom for Over a Decade
Naomi Campbell is a mom!
The supermodel announced earlier this week she had welcomed her first child, a baby girl. According to one source, she’s been wanting to become a mom for years.
“She’s wanted a baby for a long time, more than 10 years," the source told PEOPLE. “And anyone who’s surprised Naomi is having a baby on her own, her own way, and on her own timetable doesn’t know Naomi Campbell…Hasn’t she redefined everything she’s ever touched?”
Campbell shared the news on her Instagram with a photo of her hands holding baby’s feet. “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother. So honoured to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you my angel. There is no greater love,” she wrote in the caption. She has not yet revealed her daughter’s name.
Several friends commented with their congratulations, including Gabrielle Union, who wrote, “CONGRATULATIONS!!! I’m so happy for you mama!!!” and Andy Cohen, who commented with a series of clapping and heart emojis. Fellow model Adut Akech also commented, “I can’t wait to be the best big sister to this angel mama @naomi I love you both!!”
Campbell has previously spoken out about her desire to become a mom. In 2017, she told Evening Standard, “I think about having children all the time. But now with the way science is I think I can do it when I want.” A year, later, in 2018, she told Vogue Arabia, “I’d love to have kids. I don’t discount anything in life. I love kids and always will…When I’m around children, I become a child myself. That’s the little girl I don’t ever want to lose.”
Congratulations to the new mom!
