Olympic Gymnast MyKayla Skinner Harmer is officially a mom!

The 2020 vault silver medalist and her husband, Jonas Harmer, shared the news on Instagram over the weekend. “Charlotte Jane Harmer made a safe arrival yesterday afternoon! Mom & baby are happy and healthy. We couldn’t ask for more,” they wrote in the caption. The couple also introduced their daughter’s adorable nickname, as they asked “Everyone to welcome Lottie!”

Charlotte, a feminine variation of the French masculine name Charles is the sixth most popular name for girls in the United States. Popular amongst nobility and royalty, Charles means “free man” in honor of its roots in the Germanic Karl.

The Harmers first announced they were expecting on March 24. "Surprise! We have been keeping the biggest secret and can’t believe we are going to be parents! We are so excited for this new chapter and couldn’t be more blessed,” Skinner captioned the fun photo carousel featuring a confetti-filled celebration complete with sonogram images. “Newest member of the family, baby Harmer coming September 2023,” she added.

Friends and fans rushed to the comments to send express their excitement for the Harmer family. Skinner’s 2016 and 2020 teammates Laurie Hernandez and Grace McCallum sent their “Congrats!” in the comments. “Ahhhhhhh!!! I’m flipping (back tuck, back layout, triple back layout full) for you two!!” joked Jason of The Modern Dad.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Skinner talked about her hopes that she would be able to tell her children about the “cool” experience of competing at the Tokyo Games, no matter what the result ended up being.

“I’m so excited. I hope I can be that mom — that cool mom,” she said. “Just to be able to compete at the Olympic Games and to hit four events, do the best that I did was something that will last for me forever. It’ll just be cool to be able to tell my kids one day that I went to the Olympics.”

Skinner and Harmer tied the knot in November 2019, just one month after getting engaged. They met during their time as college students in Utah.

Our congratulations to the new parents!
