Ms. Rachel Is Creating Her Own Developmentally-Friendly Toy Line
Beloved for her amazing YouTube videos for littles and exciting collaborations with everyone from Blippi to the global nonprofit Save The Children, Rachel Griffin-Accurso, known across the world as Ms. Rachel, is launching her own toy line!
In an exclusive interview with Parents, Accurso opened up about the connection behind her new venture, why she’s so excited to create her own line of toys and what parents can expect for the new line set to drop in fall of 2024.
“It’s something I’ve dreamed of, making toys that really help children with development and allow parents and children to use things they’ve learned from the show, like games and songs and the research-based techniques,” Accurso told Parents.
Ms. Rachel’s dream would develop into a reality thanks to help from award-winning toy creator Spin Master. The owner and creator of several toys under the popular Paw Patrol brand, Accurso, said her connection with the brand sprung from a genuine connection with Spin Master executive vice president and mom Laura Henderson.
“We found Laura, who is a mom, and her little ones watched the show,” Accurso explained. “She really understands Aron and I, and she understood the show and she’d break out into song from the show and show a video of her little one doing something from the show. And she understood what we were trying to build and had the same passion and dedication.”
So, what can parents expect from the new line? Accurso and Henderson say there will be plenty of tie-ins with the show, including a Ms. Rachel doll and a Herbie stuffy as part of the first drop. A set of developmentally-friendly blocks with capital and lowercase letters on them, as well as objects to count, shapes, and colors, are also expected to be a part of the initial launch.
“I think what I’m excited about is having one toy for a child that you can do so many things with and that can grow with them,” Accurso explained. “So it’s gonna last in the playroom and, and kind of have endless possibilities.”
“I think what’s so interesting about the Miss Rachel platform is that there are not only toys based on characters but there’s the toys and the learning aids that she uses in her show,” Henderson told Parents. “As we move on through the fall of next year and into 2025, you’ll see a wide range of toys—it could be plush games and puzzles, musical toys, play sets, all really about inspiring families to replicate the play that they see in her show.”
Parents can look out for the first line of Ms. Rachel toys available online and in stores starting fall 2024.
