Known for her award-winning YouTube videos and beloved songs for littles, Rachel Griffin-Accurso, known across the world as Ms. Rachel, is back with yet another helpful hack for communicating with your toddler.

A mother of two herself, Accurso recently posted a video illustrating a popular method from parenting expert and psychologist Dr. Becky that she “tried on her son and it totally worked!” In the now-viral TikTok, the preschool sensation plays the role of her toddler, and Dr. Becky plays the role of the parent. In a relatable scene, the parent lets her toddler know it’s time to clean up before the toddler answers back with a confident “No!”

In response, Dr. Becky employs a special strategy, noting that she’s closing her eyes, and when she opens them up, everything will be put away. “I don’t even know what I am going to do. I am going to be so confused. I am going to do a really silly dance,” she adds before jumping into a fun series of dance moves.

Parents chimed in the comments with their experiences and thanks to the superstar duo. “✍🏻do ✍🏻silly ✍🏻dance ✍🏻to ✍🏻get ✍🏻kid ✍🏻to ✍🏻clean,” wrote on parent. “Another good one is to see how fast they can do it. Or challenge them to pick up everything of one color. I feel like it’s all about the theatrics behind it lol,” added another. “Playfulness always wins,” one user quipped.

Other parents who might not have seen as much success in their attempts still brought a little humor to the table. “Didn’t work 🙃🙃🙃 i opened my eyes and he was just staring at me smiling,” noted one. “I love this tip!! But I also hate that I have to constantly make something fun for my kids to do something,” another parent wrote. “Does this work with teenagers?” joked another user.

Despite the best attempts at distraction, cleanup time doesn’t always end in smiles and laughter. If you are struggling with a fussy little one check out this guide to toddler tantrums, including why they happen and how to cope.
