Ms. Rachel on Her New Blippi Collab and Protecting Her Peace
The Blippi cast is headed to the big apple, and who better to show them around than the one and only Ms. Rachel.
Singing sensation, Rachel Griffin-Accurso, is teaming up with the cast of the uber-popular preschool show for two special episodes to be released on their respective YouTube channels to be released July 29. In each installment, kids will get to sing along and learn about the sights and sounds of the city, from playing in a food truck to hopping aboard a train and firetruck the jam-packed episode are sure to please your little one.
As exciting as the new collaboration is for Blippi and Ms. Rachel fans, it was equally exciting for the performers to make. “It was so much fun. I had a blast with Blippi and Meekah and I feel like they understand me on a level because we kind of do the same thing,” Accurso told People. Adding that Blippi stars Kaitlin Becker and Clayton Grimm are “just the nicest people” and they’ve all become fast friends offscreen.
“And then Bllippi will let me text him when I know kids who are in need that are Blippi fans and are really going through something," she said. “And he’s like, ‘No question,’ and he’ll meet them or call, and I’ve been really touched by that.”
Outside of her new collaboration, the real-life preschool teacher and mom to son Thomas is working to protect her peace after she announced a short social media hiatus not long ago. "The idea of protecting your peace and your heart really resonated with me. We’re kind of not meant to take in the amount of information we do online, and it changes your opinion,” she said.
Today Accurso is proud to have changed the way she interacts with social media so she doesn’t “overconsume” online. “I think that that’s healthy for everyone to have boundaries and to be aware of how your relationship with social media affects you," she said. “We only have so much energy and I use that energy for the things that are important to me, and I protect it,” she added.
While Accurso is touched by the millions of parents and kids who watch and love her content, she believes it’s so important for families to put down the iPad and put life’s lessons into practice. “I definitely like watching parents interacting with the content so much. I get so much joy from seeing parents using the techniques and the songs and the strategies away from the screen,” Accurso said.
“The individual stories about kids that are being helped by the videos make my day,” she notes. “It’s so sweet and exciting and I’m just honored, and surprised.”
