Olympian Missy Franklin Is Pregnant With Baby No. 2
No tricks, only treats here!
Five-time Olympic medalist Missy Franklin is expecting her second child with husband Hayes Johnson. The former professional swimmer used a heartwarming Halloween reveal to share the exciting news with the world. “We couldn’t be happier to share that we’re adding another superhero to the family!! Baby girl Johnson number two making her entrance in March,” the former swimmer captioned a photo of her family all dressed up in superhero costumes with sonogram in hand.
Franklin shared that her 3-year-old daughter, Sarah Caitlin—aka Owlette, aka Cait Cait—“couldn’t be more excited to be a big sis, and she will be the BEST big sister.” The two-time Olympian added that her family is “absolutely over the moon” and “so thankful to be growing our family.”
At just 17, Franklin competed in the 2012 London Olympics, where she won four gold medals and one bronze, setting a world record in the 200-meter backstroke and becoming a household name. She returned to the Olympic stage for the 2016 Rio Games, winning her fifth and final Olympic medal. In 2018, she announced her retirement, citing chronic shoulder pain.
Franklin and Johnson, both former swimmers, bonded over their shared love for the sport and met through mutual friends. They began dating in 2017 after retiring from competitive swimming and tied the knot in Colorado in September 2019.
Congratulations to the soon-to-be family of four!
