Milo Ventimiglia & Jarah Mariano Welcome Baby After Losing Home in LA Fires
As the LA wildfires rage on, thousands of families are displaced, struggling to find peace and a sense of normalcy in the aftermath. But even in the darkest times, new beginnings bring light in more ways than one.
One of TV’s most beloved dads, This Is Us star Milo Ventimiglia, and his wife, American model Jarah Mariano, were among those forced to evacuate during the Palisades Fire. At 38 weeks pregnant, Mariano is one of many who faced the unknown with courage—and has now welcomed a new life into the world.
“Houseless, never homeless,” she captioned a photo of her family hands in placed over their newborn. “Welcome back Ke’ala Coral Ventimiglia 1.23.25.” Ke’ala, a Hawaiian name traditionally meaning “the path,” serves as a poignant symbol of their journey forward after loss.
Mariano shared that her family was evacuated on January 7, losing everything—including both their current home and the house they were building for their growing family. “I was 38 weeks pregnant and had already evacuated a few weeks prior during the Franklin Fire as well. I take it as a gift that I was able to essentially do a practice run for what was inevitably to come,” she wrote. “I’m also forever grateful that we were able to evacuate from the Palisades Fire in the daytime, when we could feel more prepared and not caught completely off guard in the middle of the night, for example.”
“My family & I are together, happy, healthy, and safe, which is truly all that matters. We are deeply grateful to all of the heroes who help battle fires, as well as care for everyone affected by the aftermath for years to come. This will be an extended process of rebuilding and grieving for many, but we are feeling optimistic & inspired to welcome all of the exciting newness of our fresh start!”
Mariano and the Gilmore Girls star first announced their pregnancy on September 29. “Baby on board,” the 39-year-old model captioned a photo of herself surfing, her baby bump on display. Fans quickly noticed a special detail in the second photo—Ventimiglia’s hand forming a shaka gesture while Mariano mirrored the sign with a look of gratitude.
Congratulations to Ventimiglia and Mariano on their new beginnings.
