Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Mikayla Matthews Is Pregnant
Mikayla Matthews is adding to the rapidly growing The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives family.
The reality TV actress and her husband, Jace Terry, shared the big news on February 20. “Thought I’d finally announce the next step on my healing journey,” she captioned a maternity photo, referencing her battle with chronic disease. “Can’t wait to love on this baby.” In her maternity images, Matthews and Terry pose alongside their three children—Tommie, 3, Haven, 5½, and Beckham, 7½—all dressed in neutrals against a beige background.
“It was definitely a surprise! We were not planning or trying. I miss my period a lot with my health issues, so for me it’s normal to sometimes be off track. Then a month and a half went by and I was telling my friends, like, ‘Maybe I should take a test,’” she shared in an interview with People. “I wasn’t having any symptoms, which made me think I wasn’t pregnant, because I usually get symptoms very early, like two or three weeks in. Then I take the test and it was instantly positive.”
“With my health stuff, I didn’t think I could get pregnant right now,” she added. “My husband was with me when I took the test. He never really has much of a reaction to anything, but we were both pretty in shock. Then it set in and we got really excited. We’re definitely excited, nervous about my health and possibly passing anything on, but excited.”
Matthews says Tommie, Haven, and Beckham are all excited to welcome another member to the family, with the couple spilling the beans on the latest season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Matthews herself is also in good spirits, noting that she hasn’t felt sick like she has with past pregnancies.
“I’m usually so sick in the beginning of my pregnancies. I’m throwing up like five to seven times a day, every time I eat. But this pregnancy hasn’t really had any of that," she shared. “…It’s honestly been a blessing because I think I would die if I had to be so sick on top of my other health stuff and also filming the show.”
When asked if baby number four would be her last, Matthews hinted there may be even more in store. “It’s so wild to me that we’ll be a family of six. I feel like it’s the Mormon in me coming out,” she adds with a laugh. "I’m surrounded by Mormon culture still and my husband’s siblings all have so many kids. They’re like, ‘Once you hit three kids, you can have 10 kids.’ That’s kind of the mindset I have. When people ask me how many kids I want, I’m like, ‘I’ve always wanted three or four, but I could see myself having six.’
