NFL Host and GMA Anchor Michael Strahan Is Officially a Grandpa
Primetime personality Michael Strahan is embracing a new role—Grandpa.
The former New York Giants defensive end and Good Morning America host shared the heartwarming news on Fox NFL Sunday on September 22. After a little coaxing from co-host Howie Long, the 53-year-old proudly announced, “Yes! I am a grandfather, everybody,” accompanied by two enthusiastic fist pumps.
Strahan’s first grandchild comes from his eldest daughter, 32-year-old Tanita, who recently welcomed a baby boy named Onyx. While the proud granddad has kept most details under wraps, he assured viewers that both mom and baby are doing “fantastic.”
Reflecting on his new title, Strahan described becoming a grandfather as a “really special” experience. “I know you guys have gone through this,” he said, gesturing to the other grandparents on the panel, “and now I’m just happy to be able to join you in that club.”
Strahan shares Tanita and his 29-year-old son, Michael Jr., with his first ex-wife, Wanda Hutchins. He is also a father to 19-year-old twins, Isabella and Sophia, whom he shares with his second ex-wife, Jean Muggli.
