Celebrity Moms Share Their Behind the Scenes Met Gala Moments
Evenings spent on the Met Gala red carpet may seem far and away from your typical parenting day-to-day, but when you pull back the curtain, it would seem that celebrity moms are “just like us” when it comes to the little things. Check out some of the relatable mom moments that happened behind the scenes of this year’s Met Gala below.
Rihanna Kept Her Met Gala Gown Far Away From Her Little One
There’s nothing like heading out the door in your favorite outfit only to have your child spill juice down the front of your shirt. While Rihanna’s custom Valentino gown might be a little nicer than your average “going out” outfit (the roses alone took 30 hours to make), she knew well enough to keep her messy 11-month-old far away from her all-white ensemble. “Oh we had to keep him far away. This is white. He’s a boy,” Rihanna joked when asked what her son thought about her look.
Kim Kardashian’s Mini-Me Saves The Day After Wardrobe Malfunction
While your little one’s spills and messes can be detrimental to your outfit of the day, sometimes, family can come to the rescue when a wardrobe malfunction manifests. Kim Kardashian opened up to Vogue about how on the way to the Meta Gala, her custom Schiaparelli look—which featured 50,000 freshwater pearls—broke, causing several pearls to fall off. But before the pearls could be swept away, her daughter North, who had iconically accompanied her mom on the red carpet before, came to the rescue picking them up and putting them in her purse.
Blake Lively Spends Her Meta Gala Monday Pumping
Beloved for her iconic Met Gala looks, Blake Lively made even bigger news this year by choosing to spend her “First Monday in May” not at the Met but at home pumping. The new mom shared a cheeky shot on her Instagram story of her in sweats pumping in her bathroom with two stickers added to make it look like milk was pouring out her chest. Parents across social media lauded the actress for her candid snap and commitment to putting herself and her family first.
Serena Williams and Karlie Kloss Take Twinning Bump Photos
Having a “bump buddy” to support you during pregnancy is everything—and having a pregnant pal to twin with in photos doesn’t hurt either! While tennis legend Serena Williams and American model Karlie Kloss made their big bump debuts separately on the Met Gala carpet, they met up behind the scenes for a quick photo op. Wearing classic black gowns adorned with pearls, Kloss and Williams snapped a photo together that Kloss later posted on Twitter with the simple caption “Bumpin.”
