It seems like only yesterday Kensington Palace shared news of a royal baby on the way for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. But with the Duchess of Sussex’s due date quickly approaching, the anticipation is reaching new heights.

Although the soon-to-be-parents reportedly don’t know the sex of their baby, fans are claiming otherwise. Markle’s star-studded New York City baby shower, which took place at the lavish The Mark Hotel this week, is the cause for speculation. Conspiracy theorists claim everything from the décor to outfit choices and even gift wrapping paper was a nod towards the sex of baby.

The only issues is, the guess-umptions for a boy and a girl are both convincing. We’ve rounded out the details to both arguments below so you can pick which side you’re leaning towards.

Baby Girl Rumors

Team Girl fans say all the proof they needed was in these not-so-subtle baby shower details, according to Daily Mail.

Floral arrangement: A team of florists were spotted arriving at The Mark Hotel carrying bouquets of spring flowers. While the arrangements included orange and yellow tulips—a general nod towards spring—there were also dozens of light pink long-stem roses carried into the venue. The hotel, however, claims the flowers were for its own use, and not the shower specifically.

Guests’ attire: Many guests were flaunting pink looks.

  • Gayle King arrived in a bright pink dress and pastel-colored heels
  • Canadian stylist Jessica Mulroney wore a dark salmon turtleneck and matching heels
  • Amal Clooney wore a red jumpsuit
  • An unidentified guest had on a pale blush skirt

Gifts: Onlookers spotted gift bags brought into the hotel, many of which seem to hint towards a girl.

  • Gayle King carried in a colorful bag with fuchsia stripes and polka dots
  • An unidentified guest was lugging a white box with a pink ribbon

If the rumors are true, Prince Harry will be pleased. He previously let it slip up to fans that he’s hoping for a baby girl.

Baby Boy Rumor

While there wasn’t as much traditional blue hues suggesting a boy on the way, Daily Mail says some are latching on to one piece of evidence to drive their suspicions: Abigail Spencer’s gift.

Abigail Spencer: Markle’s former Suits costar was spotted on the eve of the shower entering the Mark Hotel with a blue floral gift bag stuffed with blue tissue paper. On the day of the actual shower the actress may have been trying to be more discreet, and was spotted walking into the hotel with a gift tucked away inside a brown paper bag. Despite her best efforts, however, blue tissue paper was poking out of the bag, according to Daily Mail.

The boy vs. girl assumptions are solely based on speculations of course. Only time will tell whether fans are grasping at straws or perhaps on to something. The famous Lindo Wing has already started prepping for the mom-to-be’s delivery, and staff has been advised not to take time off in April. With a little over one month to go, the countdown is in full force.
