Mom Gives Birth in McDonald's Parking Lot, Nicknames Son McFlurry
Unexpected arrivals happen more often than you think. For Wisconsin mom Analysia Beck, her birth plans definitely went awry when it came to welcoming her son Micah.
Around 11 p.m. on January 11, Analysia, who was 38 weeks along in her pregnancy, told Today she started experiencing mild contractions. Initially, she brushed them off as Braxton Hicks contractions, so she went back to sleep. But moments later she was jolted awake by painful contractions and her water broke.
As soon as Analysia’s mother arrived to look after her and her husband Daniel’s kids— Jayce, 3, and Aubriella, 17 months— Daniel and Analysia hoped in the car. “We were in the car for like two minutes when I was like, ‘Daniel, you have to pull over, I feel like I’m sitting on the baby’s head,’” Analysia said. “At that point, I knew he was coming, and we weren’t going to make it the hospital.”
The closest refuge? A McDonald’s parking lot. Daniel called 911 while Analysia climbed into the back of their SUV in the middle of a snowstorm. Just minutes after making her way into the back Analysia said she “pushed three times and he came out.The paramedic barely made it, but they were there to catch him.”
Analysia and Daniel’s third baby and second son Micah had arrived, healthy albeit a little blue from the cold. After getting him checked out at the hospital they chose to call him Micah, or as of late their “Little McFlurry,” after the fast-food chain’s classic dessert.
“Between the blizzard and the McDonald’s, we think it’s very fitting!” Analysia said.
