Manti Te’o and His Wife Jovi Welcome Baby No. 2
Former Notre Dame football star Manti Te’o has welcomed a baby boy to the family!
The NFL free agent and his wife, Jovi, shared the happy news on Instagram yesterday. The carousel of photos posted to Jovi’s page feature images of Manti, Jovi and their baby boy in the delivery room, as well as one of their newborn swaddled and sleeping. “Welcome my little King. We’ve all been waiting for you,” Jovi, a newly minted nurse, captioned the post.
The couple also shared details of their newborn in the post, including his birth weight at 8 pounds 13 ounces and his birth length at 22 inches. Known for his strength and grit as a former professional linebacker, Manti naturally gravitated toward a strong name for his child.
Named Kyro Aumua Te’o, Kyro is a name of Arabic and Greek origins. This gender-neutral name is considered a modern variation of Cairo, inspired by the Egyptian placename. It means “victorious one” and “the strong,” pointing to baby’s winning ways and strong, independent spirit.
Baby Kyro is Manti and Jovi’s second child together. The pair previously welcomed daughter Hiro in August 2021. The couple married in La Jolla, California, a little less than a year prior to welcoming their first child into the world.
Before they met, Manti, an award-winning athlete at Notre Dame, made headlines in 2012 after he was catfished online and subsequently believed that his girlfriend at the time, Lennay Kekua, who never existed, had died of leukemia. Manti’s story was recently covered in Netflix’s two-part 2022 sports documentary “Untold: The Girlfriend Who Didn’t Exist,” where he discusses the incident and his life now as a family man and father.
Our congratulations to the growing family of three!
