Good Girls Star Mae Whitman Welcomes Her First Child
Mae Whitman is officially a mom!
The Parenthood actress shared the big news on August 28 along with an updating on her first few days of parenting. “Not to be a Bieber about it but I too just gave birth to our son, Miles,” Whitman captioned a closeup of her finger and her son’s foot, in a funny copy-cat style of the Bieber’s baby announcement.
“From the moment we heard the first tiny sound out of his tiny piggy mouth we were besotted. He is the kindest, gentlest, smartest, funniest little beebee and he’s our best friend (pretty much exactly like his namesake Uncle Miles @younggoth),” she said shouting out her Parenthood co-star Miles Heizer. “We are infinitely grateful he chose us as his parents.”
Whitman went on to thank her birthing and hospital team for “guiding our little family through all the unexpected twists and turns safely with love and grace” and also shouted out her growing village that has “shown us such radical generosity and support. We love you! We’re so happy!”
Whitman first announced her pregnancy with a sweet Parenthood reunion photo featuring her bump and former co-stars Lauren Graham and Miles Heizer. “Not to make a parenthood episode out of it or anything but!!! Mother’s Day looking a little different this year! Can’t wait to meet you, huge baby kicking my insides to filth! #ruveal,” she captioned the post featuring photos from seasons five and six of the popular show where her character was pregnant.
The DUFF star received congratulations and well wishes from several fellow actresses and actors, friends and fans. “OMG CONGRATS!” wrote former co-star Ken Jeong. “ Know I already told you BUT….congrats!!! Ahhhhhhh,” added Friday Night Lights star Scott Porter. “Love a hard launch,” commented Busy Philipps.
Whitman, who notoriously keeps her private life under wraps, has not shared additional details about the baby’s father or her fertility journey. Fans did point out how inspirational her pregnancy was to those dealing with endometriosis who may be struggling with fertility. “I remember when you shared your endometriosis battle and it inspired me so much that I finally reached out and got my own endometriosis diagnosis, because of you,” commented one fan. “Now, seeing this picture, on Mother’s Day of all days. I’m SO happy for you, Mae. I hope you have the calmest and most beautiful pregnancy and delivery. Congratulations, mama.”
Our congratulations to Whitman on her new addition!
