Lance Bass and Husband Michael Turchin Have Welcomed Twins
Lance Bass is a dad to twins!
The former ‘N Sync singer and his husband Michael Turchin announced they welcomed boy-girl twins, via their surrogate, on October 13. The couple named their daughter Violet Betty and their son Alexander James.
Bass shared the happy news on Instagram, with pictures of both kids’ birth certificates. “The baby dragons have arrived!! I can not express how much love I feel right now,” he wrote in the caption. “Thank you for all the kind wishes. It meant a lot. Now, how do you change a diaper??! Ahhhhhhhh!”
The first-time parents first shared their pregnancy news on Tuesday June 1 through TikTok video. In the caption Bass wrote, “"Coming this fall. #TheyreComing #HappyPride #ForYourPride #TodayIsLove #Zaddies.”
In the Halloween-esque video, the two hear cries inside their house. They ask a paranormal investigator to look into it and are told “there’s more than one.” Later shots in the video include the silhouettes of a boy and girl that look like they could be straight out of The Shining and the couple approaching “two buns in the oven.” The video ends with the words “coming soon.”
Bass and Turchin, who got married in 2014, had been trying to become parents for some time now. They had nine different egg donors, surrogacy attempts and unsuccessful IVF treatments, the couple told PEOPLE. Bass added that their surrogate was pregnant with twins last year but miscarried.
“Because of what we’ve been through the last four years, we were very cautious to get excited,” Bass told the outlet. “And it kind of sucks because when you find out you’re pregnant, you want to celebrate with your family. You start planning their future in your head already, but we were so scared because we didn’t want to go through the pain again of losing them. We told our friends and family about the ninth week, when we finally felt comfortable. You think you’re going to jinx it or something.”
He added that the couple has always wanted twins, as Turchin has a twin sister. “[Michael] just loved that experience,” Bass said.
At the time, the couple was expecting the babies to arrive in early November, but were hopeful they would arrive closer to Halloween. “I love Halloween. When I found out that they were going to be coming at Halloween, I immediately thought, ‘Our baby announcement has to be some kind of Halloween theme. Maybe we should do a movie trailer, a horror movie trailer where we don’t actually say it. You have to figure it out.’ And so that’s what we did,” Bass told the outlet at the time. “And so we called my friend, Colton Tran, who is an incredible horror director. We did it within three days. We had it written and everything, we shot it one day and edited it another day and it was ready. So I was so happy with how it came out. Michael has to be on board with all my crazy ideas.”
Congratulations to the new parents!
