Pro Golfer Jordan Spieth and Annie Spieth Welcome Baby No. 2
Jordan Spieth was supposed to be in Italy on a scouting trip for the Ryder Cup this week. But fate had other plans!
The professional golfer stayed home by his wife’s side to welcome his second child on September 12. Annie Verret Spieth and Jordan Spieth announced the arrival of their baby girl with a black and white photo of Dad cradling his newborn with a simple caption reading, “Welcome, Sophie 9/12/23.” Sophie, a name with Greek origins, traditionally means “wisdom.” The name Sophie has skyrocketed in popularity since the mid-1980s and currently is the 176th most popular name for girls in the US.
World-class athletes, fans and friends eagerly responded to the proud parents’ new addition in the comments. Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps and fellow golfer Min Woo Lee both sent their congratulations alongside the Ryder Cup and PGA Tour.
The Spieths already share 1-year Sammy Spieth, who they welcomed on November 14, 2022. The happy family of three garnered plenty of attention when they stepped out on the Masters Tournament greens with Mom and Sammy donning matching caddy outfits for the Par 3 Contest. “Rain cut Sammy’s caddie debut short but he looked the part,” Spieth joked in a post made after the event.
Spieth and Verret met in high school and got engaged in 2017. In 2018, the two tied the knot over Thanksgiving in Dallas, Texas.
Our congratulations to the Spieths!
