Jessie James Decker Gets Candid About Her Post-Baby Bikini Body
There may be more encouragement than ever before to embrace your postpartum body, but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy. As temperatures heat up and you find yourself preparing for the pool or the lake, negative thoughts about your post-baby bikini body can creep in. Whether you are dealing with a new shape and size or simply don’t quite feel like yourself in your suit this summer, Jessie James Decker is reminding us all to take a step back, be kind and give ourselves some grace.
In a new post shared to Instagram on May 3, the singer and new mom of four opened up about struggling with her own postpartum body. “I’ll be honest I really didn’t wanna post any of these kittenish swim photos because I weigh 30 pounds more right now than I did last year this time. Yes I know I just had a baby three months ago, but it’s easy to compare on here and wonder why my body likes to hold on to it more than others. The pressure we put on ourselves is not realistic,” she wrote.
“So this is a reminder to myself and to you. Be kind to yourself. give yourself grace. We are healing after growing a human being for nine months. And if you’re breastfeeding like me and your body needs to hold on to as much weight as possible to keep making milk, then let it. Focus on that sweet new baby because that’s what it’s all about. Plenty of time to “get back” when it’s time. But for now. Give yourself grace… you’re doing great and you got this girl! We are in this together Xoxo,”
In the comments moms sounded off with their appreciation for James Decker’s authentic and candid post. “You are stunning, and your honesty is deeply appreciated,” wrote NFL wife and social media star Kylie Kelce. “A 30-pound difference doesn’t define the beauty you radiant from within! You look amazing mama,” added plus-size model Lyanna Lynette. “You’re a beautiful woman and momma,” wrote Jana Kramer.
James Decker welcomed her fourth child Denver Calloway Decker on February 9, 2024, alongside her husband, Eric Decker. The singer and cookbook author admitted that welcoming a fourth baby to the family was a huge surprise. “Eric didn’t believe me at first. He thought that I was playing a joke on him,” she told People. “He thought that I had my sister, who was pregnant at the time, pee on a stick. It was hilarious. Once everyone realized, ‘This is not a joke,’ everyone was super excited. And we still are.”
