Plenty of babies come out of the womb with a full head of hair. But few have the thick, lustrous locks this Japanese baby girl is rocking—and she’s become an Instagram sensation for her awesome ’do.
Seven-month-old Baby Chanco (as she’s referred to on her Instagram account) and her “hair diary” have captured the hearts of more than 177,000 followers, launching the account into viral fame.
In her photos, Baby Chanco models her mane in a variety of styles, from “just out of the bath and soaking wet” to pinned back with a pretty bow. But often it’s just doing its thing, forming a dark halo of hair around her sweet baby face.
Baby Chanco’s hair is so thick, she’s already getting haircuts to thin her strands out a bit. Which is pretty impressive considering some kids don’t get their first haircut until they’re at least 2.
The first photo shared by the account was taken when Baby Chanco was just 4 months old—and already she had her now-infamous poof going.
For the record, our favorite photo may be this one of Baby Chanco in a baby carrier. Can you spot her through all that hair?
Of course, not all babies are so genetically gifted when it comes to their hair. Some infants even lose hair after they’re born. But it’s nothing to be alarmed about. A drop-off in hormone levels after birth is typically the cause, though it could also just be part of the hair’s normal growth cycle. Either way, if you notice any bald patches on baby’s scalp, often the best thing to do is be patient. The hair will grow in eventually, sometimes sooner rather than later—especially if you’re Baby Chanco.
