Reality Star Reveals Heartbreaking Miscarriage in Emotional Post
“I don’t know why some people have it seemingly so easy to get preggers and carry their babies to term and others struggle?”
That’s the question Married at First Sight star Jamie Otis grappled with in a social media post where she revealed her recent chemical pregnancy.
“Sorry I’ve been MIA, this very bizarre positive pregnancy test, then negative test, then faint positive lines gave me hope that Gracie was going to become a big sis in nine months, but the night before last, I began having terrible contraction-like pains and spotting. Then, over the night full-blown everything—if you know what I mean,” Otis shared.
As a registered nurse herself, the mother of one admitted to having her “suspicions” once the symptoms started to show. Her fears were turned into reality when her midwife confirmed she had a chemical pregnancy. Otis quickly turned to her followers for some positive thoughts.
“I was hoping that if I put it out there, that maybe all your prayers and positive energy would help me along this pregnancy, because there is no doubt in my mind that all your support and encouragement while I was pregnant with Gracie helped me have such a smooth pregnancy. I’ll forever be grateful for you.”
Sadly, Otis and her husband are no strangers to this cycle of grief. Back in 2016, the star suffered from a miscarriage and lost her son, Jonathan, when she was four months pregnant.
“This happened to me after our sweet Johnathan, and the same feelings have come back,” she admits.
Just days before Otis shared the heartbreaking news, she posted hopeful pictures revealing the mixed signals she was receiving from different pregnancy tests.
“So if you get one positive pregnancy test, then like ten negative ones but you’re still waiting for your monthly visitor on the last day of the month—what does that mean,” she asked via Instagram.
Soon after, she shared a picture of the latest pregnancy test giving her another glimmer of hope. “If I stare long enough, I see the faintest ‘+’ sign… So hopeful right now,” she commented.
Despite the sadness, Otis remains hopeful and grateful for her family. “What I do know is that I am so, so thankful for this little girl [and her daddy] right here. It’s like she knew mommy was in so much pain because she just wanted to be held and snuggled all night long.”
The TV star won’t let this deter her from growing her family, explaining she is still “on a mission to make Gracie a big sis.”
When you and your partner are struggling to conceive, it’s hard not to feel alone. But remember, there are many others silently enduring the same grief, which is why it’s so important not to hide it. Once you allow yourself to open up about your struggle, you find that you’re not at all as alone as you felt.
