This Mom’s Last-Minute Hospital Maternity Shoot Has Gone Viral
If there’s a will, there’s a way, and one mom certainly found a way to get her long-awaited maternity photoshoot done just under the wire.
Medical student and new mom Jackie Kunzelman Anderson recently went viral after her younger sister and maternity photographer, Lexi Pratt, posted about her impromptu maternity shoot. After receiving the news that her baby boy would be arriving early, the two, alongside their family, pulled together a creative photo shoot in her Scottsdale hospital just a few hours before she was to be induced.
“Childbirth is a scary thing. Even in this day and age, things could go wrong at any point. My older sister Jackie had to have a C-section 3 weeks early because she went into preeclampsia,” Anderson’s sister wrote, explaining the pretext for the last-minute shoot. “Having this shoot not only lifted everyone’s spirits, but made the entire process so much more lighthearted and fun. We now all look back on my nephew’s birth like it was a party, not a nightmare,” she noted.
In the video, Anderson climbs atop her hospital bed (on her own!) and poses in an “iconic” flowing pink dress with layers upon layers of tulle. The dramatic angle and soon-to-be memorable scene may make this scene a bit unconventional, but definitely memorable. But the sisters fun didn’t stop with a few shots atop the hospital bed. They also set up shop in the bathroom, hanging a background over the shower area and setting the scene with ring lights and a few more outfit changes.
In the comments, several parents sent their compliments to Anderson for going after what she wanted despite the roadblocks. “This is EVERYTHING and I totally would have done the same thing!” one user wrote. “tbh if everyone looked that good 38 weeks pregnant, we’d all take pregnancy photos,” joked another mom.
Others cracked jokes in the comments, and a few weren’t quite as supportive of the idea. “That child has no choice but to be extra af for their whole life to keep up with mom,” someone added. “Girl you had months for this!” another stated.
After all of the fanfare and memories made, the best part of the day was undoubtedly baby Rocky’s arrival! Pratt shared the good news alongside the final photos. “We’re so grateful to say baby Rocky is happy and healthy! And he’s got some fun parents that’s for sure.”
