Hilary Swank Reveals Her Twins' Names in Adorable Beachside Snap
Hilary Swank is finally letting the public in on the big secret—her twins’ names.
Nine months after welcoming her first baby girl and boy into the world the Million Dollar Baby actress shared a snap of the two beachside with their names Aya and Ohm written in the sand behind them.
“I have a busy week of talk shows ahead where I’ll be sharing about my new film and a fun partnership, but I figured what better day to share the names of my two little loves with you all first,” the P.S. I Love You* actress shared on Valentine’s Day. At the end of the post the new mom jokingly added, “P.S. Who else has babies that think sand is edible?”
While not entirely clear, some debate that the meaning behind Swank’s son’s name, Ohm, lies with the Hindu mantra popularly used in meditation. A little more clear cut, Swank’s daughter Aya’s name traditionally is a girls name of Japanese origin with several delicate meanings, including “woven silk,” “colorful,” and “beautiful.”
Swank and her husband Philip Schneider first shared the good news that they had welcomed their twins on Sunday, April 9. “It wasn’t easy. But boy (and girl!) was it worth it. Happy Easter! Posting from pure Heaven,” she wrote in the caption of a Instagram photo featuring her little ones on her shoulders.
Numerous celebrities shared their congratulations in the comments, including Viola Davis, Katie Couric, Sharon Stone and more.
Swank initially announced her pregnancy on Good Morning America, telling the hosts, “This is something I’ve been wanting for a long time, and my next thing is I’m going to be a mom,” Swank said. “And not just of one, but of two. I can’t believe it!”
Shortly after her appearance on Good Morning America, the 48-year-old actress appeared on Live with Kelly and Ryan confirming that the pregnancy rumors were true and that she was “Feeling great right now. It’s so fun to finally be able to say it, to get past the 12 weeks and be able to say, ‘I’m pregnant!”
Swank continued on to say that not even her Alaska Daily crew was privy to the news before she shared it today, and that she had made some wardrobe adjustments on her own to keep things under wraps. The Oscar-winning actress also told Ripa and Seacrest that twins run in her family, “My grandmother was a twin, my husband’s grandmother was a twin…twins are double the excitement!”
“It’s such a blessing. It’s a total miracle. It’s unbelievable,” Swank gushed about her pregnancy at the time.
According to The Knot, Swank and Schneider, a social venture entrepreneur, secretly tied the knot between California Redwoods in August 2018, almost two years after they first met over brunch set up by mutual friends. “It was a blind date set up by actor Misha Collins’s wife Vicki and another close friend Jean. We met at 10:00 a.m. and parted ways at 11:00 p.m.,” Swank told The Knot. “We clearly enjoyed our time!”
Our best to the happy couple on this new adventure!
