Not long after finding out you’re expecting comes the inevitable question—who will baby take after? Will they have mom’s hair and dad’s nose? Your partner’s blue eyes and your big feet? It’s a question all parents are dying to know, and one dad recently came up with a hilarious way to try to answer it.

In a now-viral video, Sophia Watts, also known as @sophiahillll on Instagram, shared the clever hack her husband Taylor devised to see who their baby girl might resemble. Using a 3D sonogram image of their baby’s face, Taylor pulls a tan T-shirt tightly over his head, highlighting only the outline of his features.

“Does she look like me?” Taylor asks as he pulls the shirt snug. “Hold on, hold on, this might be better,” he jokes, positioning his hand by his head to mimic the baby’s pose. After a long look and confirmation that she’s a mini version of dad, it’s mom’s turn to try. Taylor then jokingly declares that the baby doesn’t look anything like her mom-to-be.

In the comments, viewers were divided on whether the baby took after mom or dad, but everyone agreed the idea was equal parts genius and hilarious. “She definitely looks like daddy with momma’s nose,” one commenter said. “No need for the shirt trick, they always look like the dad,” joked another. “I honestly needed these tears of laughter! You two are the sweetest,” added another.

Determining who a baby will look like is more guesswork than science, but some research suggests newborns are more likely to resemble dad. Explore the fascinating factors behind baby’s features in this guide to what your baby might look like.
