Ingenious Grandpa Makes Epic School Bus Costume for Grandson With a Wheelchair
Halloween may not be until next week, but the costume one Ohio grandfather pulled off for his special needs grandson may have already won the season.
Blake Mompher was born with spina bifida and uses a wheelchair to get around. Like any 5-year-old boy, he wanted a cool costume to wear for Halloween, CBS News reports.
Blake loves school buses, so his mom, Megan Mompher, turned to her father-in-law for a little help transforming her vision into a reality. And after the grandfather worked some crafting wonders, he decked out out Blake’s wheelchair into a “Blake County School Bus” for All Hallows’ Eve.
“Is it Halloween yet?! Big thank you to my father-in-law for this creation,” the mother shares on the Team Blake Facebook page.
Using DIY inspiration, Blake’s grandfather started from scratch when he designed the school bus. Days before posting the finished product, Mompher shared a sneak peek picture, and the transformation is real.
Blake is getting ready to have one of his biggest surgeries yet next month, but you would never know it by looking at him.
“Everyone that talks to him or sees him is like, ‘Does he every cry or does he ever get mad?’ He’s just always happy, he has a positive attitude. He’s been through so much," his mom tells CBS News.
