Emma Stone Gives Sweet Shout Out to Her Toddler in Oscar Speech
Nominated alongside greats like Lily Gladstone and Carey Mulligan, Emma Stone took home the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2024 Academy Awards. Amid her surprise and awe at securing one of the show’s biggest awards of the evening, she had one very important person to thank.
After praising past winners, those who were nominated, and the Poor Things cast and crew, the star who was nominated for her role as Bella Baxter turned to thank her family and “most importantly,” her daughter, Louise Jean.
“I know I have to wrap up, but I really just want to thank my family – my mom, my brother Spencer, my dad, my husband Dave, I love you so much,” Stone said. “And most importantly, my daughter, who’s going to be three in three days and has turned our lives technicolor. I love you bigger than the whole sky, my girl,” Stone said, seemingly referencing the title of Taylor Swift’s song “Bigger Than The Whole Sky” from her Midnights (3am Edition) album.
Emma Stone and her husband, Dave McCary, welcomed their first child into the world on March 13, 2021. Notoriously private about their personal matters, Stone and McCary have shared little about their daughter or about life as parents outside of saying that the whole thing is “very very exciting.”
The two-time Oscar winner and McCary first met while filming an episode of Saturday Night Live in December 2016 and quickly hit it off. They confirmed their engagement in December 2019 and tied the knot in September 2020.
Our congratulations to Stone on her first Oscar win as a mom!
