TikTok star Elyse Myers is opening up about her son Oliver’s difficult diagnosis.

“So, about a week ago, my son went into his 4-month checkup, just a routine newborn checkup. The doctor heard a little bit of a heart murmur and said, ‘You know, it’s probably nothing. We’ll just send you to a Cardiology so that he can get a little echocardiogram and confirm that it’s just an innocent murmur and he’ll grow out of it,’” The Funny Cuz It’s True podcast host shared in a video.

A few days later, at their scheduled echocardiogram, Myers said the tech “found a very large hole in my son’s heart, between the bottom two chambers of his heart. He was born with VSD or ventricular septal defect and we didn’t know that and they never caught it,” she added.

To make sure Oliver’s heart would be okay the next day he had a heart catheter placed and heart surgery booked within the next couple of weeks, Myers noted. “…the doctors are really confident that after the surgery, he will recover and grow right on track. They seem to think that this will not affect him in life later after this is all fixed up.”

From identifying her son’s heart murmur to scheduling surgery, Myers explained that “it had just been every minute of the day finding out new information” and that she and her husband Jonas had been supporting each other since the beginning.

“But now that we’ve kind of gotten through all of the information and kind of have a good grasp on what’s going on, I just wanted to let you guys know that I’m not going to be updating everything the whole time, just the big ones,” she shared. “We love you guys. It’s going to be okay, it’s going to be okay, he’s gonna be good and he’s gonna be good, we’re gonna be good.”

Friends and fans offered up their love and support in the comments to Myers. “Oliver is a tough little guy with the toughest parents. We love you all so much and are always here through the hard days. Benny sends his love and can’t wait to meet his little buddies,” the Bachelorette’s Becca Kufrin wrote. “I’m sorry this must be a lot to be navigating,” added momfluencer Sarah Nicole Landry. “Just here to say we’re here and we’re rooting for you all.”

Elyse Myers and Jonas Myers Share The Arrival of Thier Second Child

The Myers family first shared the arrival of baby boy Oliver on September 14. “We love you so much, Oliver,” the couple simply captioned the post. The carousel of photos capture Oliver’s debut at the hospital, Elyse getting in some snuggles and Jonas cradling his son in front of a beautiful sunset.

Friends and fans rushed to the comments to congratulate the couple. “Oh my gosh! He’s here!! The biggest congratulations to you and your sweet family my friend,” wrote Emily Vondy. “Aww congrats Elyse and welcome Oliver,” added the team at Blippi.

Elyse Meyers Shares Funny Tips for Your Next Pregnancy Announcement

Best known for her witty and irreverent approach to life’s big moments, it’s no surprise that when it came time to announce her second pregnancy, Myers did so in a way that was both creative and heartfelt.

But before we get to that, let’s talk about Myers’ latest viral sensation: a how-to video on announcing your pregnancy on social media. In the video, Myers offers up a series of humorous tips and tricks for getting your followers to see your pregnancy announcement for the first time.

To start off, Myers notes that she’s uniquely qualified to give advice on this topic as she recently announced her own pregnancy online, and it “didn’t go the way I expected it to.”

For her first tip, the soon-to-be mom of two joked that expectant parents should avoid The Office-themed announcements. “It’s too niche, people won’t understand it’s an announcement and they’ll think it’s a really weird ad for a show that stopped airing 10 years ago,” she said. For an example, Myers shows a short clip of her own recent announcement before pausing the video and saying, “People stopped watching right there, they didn’t notice you were pregnant.”

This leads to Myer’s second tip, Keep. It. Short. “Under 10 seconds, or else people will miss it and you will spend the next nine months announcing that you are pregnant every time you post,” she jokes. Adding that you should really announce it in the first 0.2 seconds.

Moving onto number three, she jests that the algorithm will decide your pregnancy announcement video for you. Myers then goes on to show a video of her eating cereal out of a mixing bowl and talking about her pregnancy cravings, a video that she says the Instagram algorithm picked as her pregnancy announcement video.

While throughout her video, Myers is mostly poking fun at the way people and social media algorithms approach pregnancy announcements, she also manages to offer some genuinely helpful advice for anyone looking to make their announcement memorable.

Elyse Myers is Pregnant with Baby No. 2

As you may have guessed at this point, Myers and her husband Jonas’ own pregnancy announcement was indeed an Office-themed, minutes-long video that got overlooked by many viewers. In the Reel, the proud parents of 2-year-old son August hold mugs that say “world’s best mom” and “world’s best dad” as they pose in front of the uncrumpled final note, which reads, "We are pregnant.” Team Myers will be growing into a family of four come September 2023!

Our congratulations to the new parents!
