Join Elmo and Abby Cadabby for a Scavenger Hunt You Can Do From Home
Elmo is back! This time he wants you to join him on a scavenger hunt playdate filled with new games, activities and visits from celebrity guests Amy Sedaris and Gabrielle Union.
The 30-minute special, created and produced by Sesame Workshop, will debut on HBO Max on Thursday, August 6 and feature Elmo teaming up with Abby Cadabby (via video chat) for a virtual scavenger hunt. Other Sesame Street friends joining the hunt include Big Bird, Grover, Rosita, Oscar the Grouch, Bert and Ernie, Elmo’s dad Louie and tiger Mr. Stripey.
Everyone will search for all seven items on their list using a printable worksheet (which you can find here.) Plus, Cookie Monster and Gonger will also make an appearance to create a summer dessert, Amy Sedaris will share an easy craft the whole family can get in on and Gabrielle Union will lead Elmo and Abby in a sing-along.
“Although summer looks different for many families this year, our Sesame Street characters once again show children that, with a little imagination, staying at home can still be fun,” Kay Wilson Stallings, Sesame Workshop Executive Vice President of Creative and Production, said in a press release. “We’re grateful to our partners at WarnerMedia and HBO Max for their continued support as we strive to meet the needs of children and families through learning and laughter in these challenging times.”
The special is the latest effort in Sesame Workshop’s Caring For Each Other initiative, which is funded, in part, by Sesame Workshop’s new Critical Needs Response Fund. The fund is designed to help meet urgent needs of kids and their families.
To help drive support for the fund, Sesame Workshop is also partnering with Omaze, an online fundraising platform, to give away another virtual playdate with Abby Cadabby and Big Bird for one sweepstakes winner and their guest. You can check out the sweepstakes, which end on August 12, and enter to win on Omaze.com.
