Dad Shamer Says Fathers Who Change Diapers Give in to the ‘Feminization of the American Male’
Don’t be stuck in the past, or you’ll wind up spreading messages that bare no meaning. Take, for example, the individual who went out of their way to create stickers just to label changing tables in men’s rooms as tools of “feminization.” This person has a totally unpopular opinion, considering the large number of dads—including John Legend—who have spent the past year voicing their changing table woes, and leading the fight to change the norm.
The Twitter account @SheRatesDogs shared an image of the sticker earlier this month and quickly sparked outrage among users. “Warning. This is another example of the feminization of the American male,” the sticker reads.
The full image, including the changing table and the sticker, was shared by a user on Reddit who says, “saw some Dad shaming at our local Rural King. Caring for your kids makes you more of a man, not less of one.”
Tons of users chimed in with messages of solidarity, including one dad who says it best. “If you’re a willing and involved parent, you won’t wait around for your spouse or hired help to change the diaper of a crying, uncomfortable infant…You get in there and do the deed because you want to be this kid’s parent, you care about their wellbeing,” he says. “The insane notion that it’s feminizing us is the stuff of irrational, misguided narcissists who lack empathy and reason.”
Couldn’t have said it any better. Why do people shame dads for being, well dads. Fathers who change diapers, as well as babywear their children and style their kids’ hair, are what real men are made of. Case closed.
