Pregnant Claudia Oshry Gets Candid About Her First Trimester Struggles
Toast podcast host Claudia Oshry is going to be a mom!
The @girlwithnojob social media star and her husband Ben Soffer (@boywithnojob) shared their exciting news with the world on November 17. “I’M HAVIN’ HIS BAAABY,” Oshry captioned a video of her and Soffer reacting to her positive pregnancy test and her first sonogram. In the comments, celebrities and fellow social media stars—from Campbell “Pookie” Puckett to Stassi Schroeder, Snooki, and Nicky Hilton—sent their congratulations to the happy couple.
In an episode of her Toast podcast shortly after the announcement, Oshry opened up about the more challenging parts of her first trimester—chief among them, not being able to share the joyous news. “Seriously, nobody knows how hard this has been for me. It’s the hardest secret I’ve ever had to keep, and I don’t think I realized what a weight this was carrying on me,” Oshry shared.
“Not only 1) I am a joyous person, I like to chat and share positive news like that, but also, 2) I don’t keep information to myself well—it’s not one of my skills. And 3) I talk for a living, so there’s so much going on in your life when this new thing happens, and to just sit here and, like, that’s why we were talking about food so much. What the hell else is there to talk about? Oh my god, if I didn’t tell you guys one second sooner than I already did, I was seriously going to explode.”
Claudia’s sister and Toast co-host Jackie Oshry noted that, podcast or not, one of the hardest parts of the first trimester is how isolating it can feel. “You’re going through all this stuff and you can’t talk about it,” Jackie added.
Claudia went on to highlight some of the less glamorous aspects of her early pregnancy, from nausea to IBS, TMJ, and worsening coccydynia—a painful condition affecting the tailbone. “It’s so funny, when we started telling a lot of our friends, so many of the girls were like, ‘Oh my god, isn’t it amazing what your body can do? And how much, like, our husbands are so useless.’ And they totally are,” Claudia joked. “Like, honestly, every time Ben complains—literally last time we ate a lot of Chinese food, he was like, ‘I’m so nauseous.’ And I was like, ‘You’re what?’ And I have not been easy. I don’t think that’s going to come as a surprise to anyone we know.”
Congratulations to Claudia Oshry and Ben Soffer on their growing family!
