Chrissy Teigen Shuts Down Fan Who Asked About Her ‘Baby Bump’
If you’re going to comment on one of Chrissy Teigen’s posts, you better be able to hold your own. After the Queen of Social Media posted a funny picture of her and John Legend on Instagram, a fan dropped a note insinuating the mom of two was pregnant. The model slash cookbook author was having none of it, and decided to give a quick class on Etiquette 101.
Last week, the family of four was on vacation in Italy. While there, Teigen was uploading parody posts playfully poking fun at the TLC show, Four Weddings, where four brides compete against each other to win a free honeymoon. After DIY-ing a towel into a wedding dress, Teigen posed with Legend in a staged post-nuptials photo op.
The drama started with a two-letter note from a fan which reads: “Baby bump?” While it may seem like a harmless statement, the comment is pretty out of line. There are a lot of ways it can be misconstrued. For starters, if a woman isn’t pregnant, but has been trying to lose some baby weight, it can be a knock to her self-esteem. And if someone is trying hard to get pregnant but facing difficulties along the way, the comment is yet another reminder of their setbacks. The remark really hits home for Teigen, who has been super-open about the fertility challenges she and Legend were met with when trying to grow their family.
Without wasting any time, the mom of two matter-of-factly responded to the user.
“I know you didn’t mean to be rude, but think twice about asking this, there are people who have trouble conceiving, and it hurts every time. I’m not pregnant, but would be happy if I were. But I’m also happy not to be!”
Another fan points out how the comment can offend a new mom who is trying to shed some of their baby weight but still has a bump. Teigen couldn’t agree more, and replied “yeah, I’m already reminded of it every time I get out of the shower, I don’t need to hear it on the daily."
Yep, that just about sums it up. This is far from the first time the celebrity has had to take on Internet trolls. When a fan tried to body shame Teigen back in September, she quickly fired back and put the Twitter user in their place.
