Anxiety is something most parents know a thing or two about but don’t often discuss. In true form, Chrissy Teigen is breaking down the walls and getting real about the stresses she faces. In a new interview for Vanity Fair’s cover story, she opened up about dealing with an anxiety disorder in her daily life.

Teigen has a bold personality and a strong following on social media, but the platforms often cause anxious thoughts for her—especially when it comes to posting pictures of her kids. “I know a lot of people who make the conscious decision to blur out their kids’ faces,” Teigen, who opts to keep her kids’ photos visible, said in the interview. “I worry, What must they think of me? They must think I’m insane.”

Teigen says her anxiety compels her to consider the downsides to any situation. “I’ll get a new dog and be like, This dog is going to die in my lifetime,” she says in the interview. “The second we land somewhere on vacation I think, Oh, it’s going to be so sad to pack. I’ve never said, ‘Oh, I’m so excited for this job.’ I’m more, ‘One day it’s just going to end.’”

Along with daily life, her anxiety also affects how she remembers big events in her life. The article reports that her wedding to John Legend is a big blur, as is the period of time when, in her teenage years, her mom—who Teigen is very close with—was suffering from depression and disappeared from her life.

Despite her struggles with anxiety, Teigen maintains a very open and honest persona. “I think I’m such an open person now because everyone in my family has always been so hush-hush,” she says. “I love attention and affection. I want to be direct with everyone.”

Of course, she also has constant support in her husband. Teigen recently posted an appreciation tweet for Legend, thanking him for altering his schedule to have dinner and watch Love Island UK with her for a few hours. “I’m her biggest cheerleader,” Legend said in the interview. “I always think she should do more.”

Teigen’s fans certainly love how real she is. Her Instagram post of Vanity Fair’s cover story already has thousands of likes and comments. One follower wrote, “Girl you are ridiculously gorgeous. I just love watching all your videos and seeing all your posts. You are such an inspiration!! #hotmomma,” while another commented, “Definitely picking up a copy ! How transparent you are is refreshing and humbling.”
